HEALTHY EATING TIPS

Week #3

1.) No time to workout?  No worries. Spread out your workout throughout the day.  3 Ten minute “mini-workouts” can be just as effective! 
2.) Shake up dinnertime!  Have a picnic, serve breakfast for dinner, or plan a ‘theme’ night?  Include the kids in the planning – it’s fun for the whole family.
3.) Grow with your kids.  Plant a garden or find a community garden near you. Together you can develop a connection to the land and an appreciation for where your food comes from.
4.) Go green and make a difference.  Do your part to protect the earth while supporting your local farmers – buy locally grown produce. Your family will love the flavor. 
5.) Have thirsty kids?  Skip the soda and quench their thirst with healthy choices like water, low fat milk or seltzer water with a little added fruit – yum.

Week #2

1.) Meals are a great time to play follow the leader, and you’re the leader.  Eat your vegetables and your kids will too.
2.) Try the new ‘fast food’ … it’s healthy food fast!  Plan ahead – cut up fruits and vegetables so they are at your finger tips when hunger strikes. Cook extra servings and freeze them for later.
3.) Want more energy?  Then hydrate!  Your body needs 6-8 cups of fluid every day. Choose water – it’s the clear choice. 
4.) Expand your family’s taste horizons -- explore the world of food.  Enjoy a meal from a different culture each week. Have each family member share something they learn about that culture. 
5.) Not all fats are created equal. Choose healthy fats like olive or canola oil and enjoy foods like avocados, nuts, seeds and fish.

Week #1

1.) Make your body work for you! Eat 6 "Mini-Meals" during the day to speed up your metabolism. Eat small, eat often - for an energized body.
2.) Shop with a plan - Make your list - and then stick to it! Making a list will save you time, money and a lot of extra calories
3.) Make every bite count! Choose today's superfoods - fruits vegetables, nuts, beans, whole grains and lean proteins. Superfoods - packed with nutrition - for a healthy body.
4.) Teach your kids a lesson they'll cherish for a lifetime.... make meals together. Pass on the tradition. Make memories together.
5.) Turn off the T.V. - Turn on activity! Use the extra sunshine to enjoy family time outdoors. Walk the dog, ride bikes, toss a Frisbee or simply enjoy taking a walk together.
